If you’re looking for a tranquil and scenic dog park in West Bridgewater, Massachusetts, the Bay Circuit Trail Head (Hockamock) offers dog-friendly hiking and pet-friendly trails perfect for quick strolls or peaceful walks with your canine companion. This spot features a blend of woodlands and wetlands, including wooden walkways and benches, with beautiful natural views and local wildlife like bullfrogs, turtles, and deer. The trails are easy to navigate, making them ideal for families, seniors, or anyone wanting a short nature walk.
The Bay Circuit Trail Head is best known for its quiet atmosphere and privacy—visitors frequently note that the trails are rarely crowded. There are two main trails to choose from: a short loop around a small pond and a longer 2.5-mile trail near a larger pond. While the park doesn’t have dedicated fenced areas for off-leash play, it is dog-friendly as long as you follow leash requirements and clean up after your pet. Parking is limited—to about 3 cars—and the park can be muddy after rain, so wear proper footwear.
LOTS of bug, somewhat cool to walk next to the water though, you’ll see bullfrogs.
Beautiful in the spring. If you’re a fan of endless wetlands, this is the place!
Fun, but short. Also, can be very muddy. On the plus side, it’s very private. I very rarely a single person walking here in the morning and afternoons.
Walking down the path through the swamp with my dog i had the feeling of being watched. Its too quiet. I doubled back and went down the powerline road. A big buck came crashing through the brush and stopped just in front of me,looking pretty irritated. My dog and I just turned back around and left.
Really cool place with a lot of history that we aren’t really taught in school sadly. I didn’t get to explore as much as I’d like to but will be back for sure. For some extra spooky vibes, I got to the trail at 5 AM and there was lots of low fog so it was super cool.
