Located in the heart of West Bloomfield Township, the West Bloomfield Woods Nature Preserve offers pet-friendly trails perfect for dog owners who love scenic, peaceful explorations. This trail-rich preserve features easy-to-walk paths surrounded by woodlands, ideal for dog-friendly hiking and enjoying local wildlife, such as deer and birds, throughout every season. The two-mile loop provides a moderately hilly but accessible adventure—great for both energetic pups and their companions.
The preserve is a top pick among locals for its clean amenities and natural beauty. There are plenty of benches for breaks, clean new restrooms, and ample free parking in both a paved and a gravel lot. Wheelchair-accessible entrances and parking make it a welcoming spot for everyone. Dogs are welcome on the trails (leash required), making this one of West Bloomfield’s best dog-friendly parks for those looking to combine a beautiful nature walk with pet time.
My running friends and I love this 2 mile trail. It’s a great place to meet friends for running because if someone is running late they can just run counter-clockwise until they run into you. Or they can just catch you for the next loop! We love seeing all the deer. It’s a well traveled path, so you are likely to feel at peace in nature, but also feel safe because there usually isn’t someone very far away. There are some hills, but nothing too steep. Enough to get the heart rate up, but not enough to make you feel like you’re going to have a heart attack. Dogs are welcome. Bikes are not.
A very beautiful trail and you get to see so many different reptiles and deers.
Lovely in every season of the year . You can listen 👂 and see lots of birds . Easy to walk . Pet friendly .
Supremely beautiful. Especially during autumn. Walked the whole nature preserve trail with our dog which took a little over an hour (with a stop to eat our lunch). Plenty of benches around to rest. Clean new bathrooms. There is a medium sized paved lot to park and another small gravel lot. It was somewhat busy but there were enough places to park when we got there around 3:30 on a Saturday.
Nice park. It’s a bit small, and it’s in the middle of neighborhoods. The big downside is that you walk past a lot of homes.
Update; I’ve been hiking, biking, and running at this location for 2 weeks now. Beautiful walking trails. You no longer see all the homes. And the bike trial goes straight down to South lyon. Make sure you have some time here.
