The trail is eroded away from lack of care, would be still fun if you already have done it, but its mostly bushwacking trails
Great hiking, will be back to do more. This was located at the wrong place on Google Maps by Mountain View General Store 20 mins, but has now been changed to be correct
We took the trail to the bridge over the North River. The bridge is about a half mile from the parking. The bridge is a cable stayed bridge so it shakes some as you walk across it. Very pretty in that area above the river. Great and easy short hike if you just want to see the bridge.
Just a nice little hike. Trail can be a little muddy so pay attention to weather.
Reminder: limited cell signal in the park. Download maps and checkout trails before you get to the park. The website link on this page is a great resource.
We parked in the lot. There were 9 cars there but we didn’t see anyone else on our hike. Took the spur to the beginning of the loop and took the right turn towards the Wild Oak trail. Went to the top of Grindstone Mountain, turned around and came back. It was a fine overlook, as overlooks go. 1 mile roundtrip, 40 mins with a baby in the carrier.
I’d recommend trying the left turn, especially during the summer. That’ll take you down to the water.
This is a hidden gem . We hiked a couple miles of the 28 mile loop . The hike was manageable for novices , like us . We found a cool bridge and high lookout on bolder surrounded by mountains.
