Abandoned PA Turnpike

The Abandoned PA Turnpike is a unique outdoor spot featuring an 11-mile stretch of an old interstate with tunnels, graffiti artwork, and a historic roadway. It offers activities such as biking, birdwatching, hiking, jogging, and walking. The trail has a somewhat eerie but fascinating atmosphere, reminiscent of a post-apocalyptic setting. It is not wheelchair accessible, and dogs are allowed outdoors. Visitors recommend bringing flashlights for exploring tunnels and note that parking is available on a gravel lot.

Short walk along paved highway kinda feels like you are in a fallout game especially while you are walking up to the tunnel entrance with the over grown bushes and years of graffiti that’s been accumulated it’s definitely an experience worth checking out I would recommend bringing flashlights. Could be fun on a bike
Amazing, 11 miles of interstate ,dissolving w 2 tunnels
Great easy hike to a neat ruin. The tunnel is completed but the roadway was ended right after. There are remnants of both lanes still there. There is some graffiti. The parking can be the gravel lot followed by a 1.5 /2 mile road all to the tunnels end. The “red” spray paint is correct when looking for – how much longer. Flashlight on your phone is good enough.
What a great experience! Kinda eerie but so neat to explore! I would suggest not going when it’s cold or windy out. The wind through the tunnel was so cold the day we went. The graffiti inside and around is pretty cool..
This was so cool. Had to walk thru the tunnel. Glad I had a flashlite or I think I would have noped out. Some real cool graffiti from talented artists all along the tunnel. Found out there is a half marathon here in October that sounds awesome.
