This was my first visit. It is really nice and peaceful. I arrived around 8 am on a weekday. I was the only one at the trailhead. There are pit toilets and covered picnic tables. The place is well taken care of including the dirt roads.I did a loop hike. It had a nice variety of views and terrain to keep it interesting. Fortunately, it was green with some flowers. The trails are well marked with educational signage along the way.It is free to visit, so the price is right.
It is a beautiful canyon to hike. We plan to come back on our bikes to do more exploring. There are not a lot of people and they are spread out. Be prepared for the heat and sun. Go early or in the spring or fall. Do not forget a Larimer County parking pass before you go. Well done Larimer County!
This was a great experience. I took a church group on the Bent Rock Trail Loop. We were a group of 12 youth (ages 12-20) and 4 adults.We went on May 28th, 2025. The drive to the trailhead is nearly as beautiful as the hike itself.The area had recently seen a lot of rain.We hiked the loop in 1 hour and 19 minutes. It took me 7,681 steps to complete.
It is a great place to hike/run/bike without encountering too many other people. The canyon is beautiful. Bring plenty of water, there is none available at the open space. Also, very little shade, so go early in the morning, or evening.
