FAQ for Heard Farm Wayland MA in Wayland Massachusetts:
This is the perfect place to walk with my dogs and grandkids! We only meet very nice and friendly people and dogs there.
Heard Farm is truly breathtaking, like something out of the book Braiding Sweetgrass. My photos don’t do it justice.A few notes:• The summer bugs and mosquitoes are relentless, so definitely come prepared with repellent.• There isn’t much shade along the narrow trails, so we were grateful to have hats and made sure to pause in shaded spots for the pups, especially in the summer heat.• I noticed two signs asking dog owners to leash their pets, but unfortunately, every dog we came across was off-leash. This isn’t ideal if your own dog is leashed and reactive; just something to keep in mind.• Parking is very limited, so plan ahead.• We saw one post with dog 💩 bags, but hopefully, everyone brings their own and cleans up after their pups.Enjoy the beauty and serenity of this place!
One star off for all the piles of dog feces. Lots of coyotes and foxes here, also people walking their pitbulls, so be careful.I love your dog but hate that so many leave waste lying around this otherwise beautiful park.
Beautiful walk. Lots of birds of many kinds. Great Blue Herons along the river and the grass prairie was golden. If I lived in this area it would be one of my favorite walks. Mostly level and easy.
I really loved walking around with my dog! This place is mainly several open fields, which are great to play in with a frisbee or ball, and there is enough space to see others coming (important since all dogs are off leash and due to covid). All but one of the dogs we saw were friendly and obedient too. I will warn you that there is little to no shade, as the only trees are small patches lining the fields, so be prepared if you are as heat intolerant as I am. I also suggest going when google suggests the park will not be busy, as there is only a small parking lot and signs are posted to not park on the street. Hope everyone enjoys their walk as much as I did!
