Great quiet place for a quick picnic in nature or small campground for tents or rv. The museum is amazing to stroll through and the hostess is friendly and knowledgeable about the small town history represented. We haven’t visited the wildlife refuge yet but it’s on the list.

Very good place to relax and fish (as I’ve seen lots of people do). My children enjoyed wading in the shallows once. Water seems clean enough, and the ambience feels great.

ADVICE FOR FIRST TIME FOSSIL HUNTERS… I’ve never been here before but saw tictok looks super cool, built a screen out of scraps in garage, works great, also sold on amazon for 20ish bucks.. SO… wife and I went there with my contraption and shovel.. found two teeth by the bridge after 20 mins, kinda cool, saw an old guy with quite the setup, didn’t want to give out any info, I guess spots are HIGHLY secret for some reason. Dumb, so we went walking down the trail (same way as old guy) under the bridge to the right, over a wooden one then follow river down stream.. walk for 10-15 mins found a spot and started shoveling.. found like 30-40 small teeth fossils in like 2 hours, cool. I’m up to my waist in the river wife is sitting on the bank in the water, fun stuff… OUR friends show up, not really ready to get wet, they sit on the river bank, dry, they start picking through the gravel and end up finding around 40 teeth and fossils in a shorter time than me hauling shovel fulls of river bottom.. stumbling walking through the river holes from previous people.. SO, not all teeth need a screen, shovel and need to get in the river, look through the gravel on the rivers edge, it’s a fun spot, definitely will go back, not sure why it’s so SECRETIVE, plenty of teeth and fossils for everyone… would I stay there all day, no. But find a bunch and leave, yes… It’s fun…

Walking trails, balcony, nice restrooms, picnic areas at creekside. Flooded today, but I imagine it is nice when not the rainy season.

I love that the city and county decided to put a actually playground at this park, I love that it’s gated also. The river is a beautiful place to just let the world fade away and watch the fish play in the flow of the water. But I have seen this entire park submerg under the river and the river rose up above the highway. Not sure how but the playground stayed intact.
