Visiting the dog park can be a joyful activity for both you and your furry friend—but aggressive encounters can quickly […]
Located in the heart of Watkins Glen, New York, the Watkins Glen State Park Six Nations Camping Area offers a uniquely scenic spot for outdoor enthusiasts and their four-legged companions. With pet-friendly trails and gorgeous gorge hikes right at your doorstep, this destination is popular for dog-friendly hiking, beautiful views, and a peaceful camping environment. The park features both electric and non-electric campsites, plus amenities like hot showers and barbecue grills that make it a top choice for families and pet owners alike.
The campground is well maintained with courteous staff and provides safe, family-friendly surroundings. While there’s no dedicated off-leash dog park or fenced dog area, the welcoming atmosphere and leash-accessible trails offer plenty of opportunities for dogs and owners to enjoy nature together. With the nearby town of Watkins Glen and Seneca Lake just minutes away, your pet-friendly adventure extends far beyond the campground itself.
The campsites are all at the top of a steep hill and everything fun is almost a mile walking distance from camp weather its the huge pool or the trails to the Glen. I suggest starting your hike “down the 200 stairs from the “upper entrance” otherwise youre climbing up way more than climbing down stairs. Drive to the upper with the whole bunch and have one person pay the NULL to take the shuttle back to your car. Shuttle stops at 5:30 pm. Pool hours changes a little each day during the hot Summer months. ☀️ Most beautiful view from the glen!

Stayed in the campground at a tent site. Very well maintained with courteous staff. The trails for the entire park are very nice. Of course if you want to get the gorge to yourself. Go at sunrise. People start trickling in around 7am.

Camping, wonderful and quiet during the day but just when you think 10 pm is rolling around people get very loud and very obnoxious. My experience was until past midnight. Foul language, loud music and at least one laughing hyena. The little ones at the camp were very very very well behaved but the adults some seniors were over the top.
Someone pulled in with a large RV and proceeded to run his very loud generator from 6 p until 9:30 p when someone implored him to please stop.
The hiking was fantastic but not sure I would stay at the campgrounds again.
Watkins Glen Village has so much to do, don’t miss it.
Seneca Lake too!

Beautiful, hot showers, some electric hookup and some without. Camping. New York State Parks. Play ground, hiking the gorge, plenty of barbecue grills for picnic or camping. Close to town.
