Growing up in Waterloo, I learned a lot about this little village and all of the history that goes with it. Most important is that it’s the Birthplace of Memorial Day. My father & some of my relatives marched in the parades that are held every year to show respect to the soldiers that have passed. The museum that’s on Main St, the murals painted on buildings in the village show a lot of history and what the village was like and what it’s known for. Cone visit and see the places where the veterans cemetery is, read all about this quaint village..
Celebrate, commemorate and gain the knowledge that the residents of this village are proud of 🇺🇸🇺🇸

It’s a park. It could benefit from the trash cans being emptied more regularly and the chestnuts/crab apples being swept up. The sidewalks can get challenging to navigate in the fall, especially for those with mobility issues. It looks really pretty at Christmas time.

Lafayette Park isn’t the type of place you’d go to for barbecuing… playing ball… or water activities. You can go across the street to Oak Island for that. However, if you love history… go here! If you enjoy monuments and memorials… go here! A great place to learn and appreciate the sacrifices made by our veterans of various wars.
