🐾 How to Handle Aggressive Dogs at the Dog Park – Real Advice from Dog Owners
Visiting the dog park can be a joyful activity for both you and your furry friend—but aggressive encounters can quickly […]
Blue Stone Quarry is a lesser-known yet beloved spot for dog owners seeking dog-friendly hiking and picturesque nature escapes in Waterbury, Connecticut. Located at 299 Sheffield St, this park offers a beautiful setting with scenic trails, a tranquil atmosphere, and plenty of space for your pup to burn off energy. This spot is celebrated by locals as a “hidden gem” with its blue-blazed trail loop, river views, and natural beauty year-round.
While the park is not specifically designed with typical dog park amenities like fenced areas or separate sections for small and large dogs, it excels as a pet-friendly hiking area. The trails feature a gravel walking path (note: the gravel can be uncomfortable for sensitive paws), lush foliage, and ample opportunities for both people and pets to explore the outdoors. The parking is said to be convenient, especially when following local tips to avoid no parking zones and park after the signage. Blue Stone Quarry is a great choice for those looking for a dog park alternative packed with local charm, rewarding hikes, and clean, well-kept surroundings.
This is like a hidden gem,I gave 4 stars instead of 5 stars because the gravel along the walking path is huge! I noticed a little less than half way that my dog was having some discomfort on his paws.🐾😢 . If the gravel along the walking path was smaller it would have been 5 stars and perfect for our walks. Although still very clean and well maintained the parking was no problem at all. So just keep in mind if you have a dog that doesn’t wear shoes it could be uncomfortable for to their paws. ✌️🐾
Great place to take dogs. Little hike. Park after the no parking signs
The reviews for this place are funny. 😅 It’s a dead end road, basically, and it looks like absolutely nothing. But if you park there (legally, obviously, don’t park in front of the gates) and hike past the yellow gate, following the blue blazes, there’s a really pretty 2-3mile loop. I was running it as fast as I could so I didn’t take many pictures out there, but I’d like to visit again sometime and go more slowly because it’s lovely. Gotta love these “secret” little places.
I have some much today. Beautiful area to hike. We followed the blue trial, all the way to the border of the river. I have so many pictures, but they don give justice to the beauty of the place. It was a rainy mornin g, so the leaves are a little slepery. But the colors are fantastic. Easy access, great parking, beautiful place for hiking. I highly recommend this place 🌲
Polite, reasonably priced.
