Brought in a stray found in my area, Kalona. It was found after hours but the shelter reached out right away. Wash Co Sheriff contacted & gave out information to help this dog. Staff were present to help get pup a kennel & reunite with owner. Dog was chipped but they could not locate. He was being very wiggly when she was checking him. Shelters are full now because of some confiscated animals rescued from irresponsable breeders in Kalona & surrounding areas. Don’t buy a pet adopt a family member.
We have adopted 4 dogs from this shelter over the last 20 years, the latest just yesterday. We have also fostered dogs in the past. The staff here try hard to be sure each animal is place in just the right home. All of our dogs chose us. We just knew they were the right fit. Daisy, our latest, has already made herself at home. She is such a sweetheart.
Adopting my cat was easy and their communication was great. However, my cat was being treated for an ear infection and I was not notified. Since I was unaware it progressed very rapidly. I wish they were more transparent about his health. This was unexpected and very sad to deal with. I’m not sure if it was a vet issue clearing him or just a mistake but I would’ve appreciated the transparency so I could’ve been prepared for his care.
So many precious animals and they are well loved by the staff. Watching the staff with the animals you can see their devotion of taking great care and showing so much love to each getting them ready to find their forever home. We just got Izzy and the best addition to our family. Highly recommend PAWS& More to adopt an amazing dog or cat.
I’m sharing a update of the two kitties that I got from this shelter their names are Anta and Sushi. They are the love of my life and they bring me great joy. PAWS did a great job transitioning them from strays to house ready. At the time, the staff definitely was challenged due to a large amount of stray cats being dropped off. Now, it has been 2 years (Sushi) and 11/2 (Anta). They both are strong, healthy, super smart and rule the house. I recommend getting a pet from PAWS. The staff make a real effort to help unwanted animals find forever homes.
