Beautiful walk along Rock Creek today. Lots of fellow travelers, along Beach Drive and on the trails. It’s mid-November, but the trees are still pushing out beautiful colors throughout the park. We spoke to a trail volunteer who described her task for the day of removing several types of invasive plants from the area near Peirce Mill. Without her work, and that of fellow volunteers and staff members , we wouldn’t be able to enjoy this gem 12 months a year. Thank you !
This easy hike in the heart of the city offers a peaceful escape from the city’s hustle and bustle. It’s an ideal spot for a relaxing hike during a busy week. The neighborhood is remarkably quiet, allowing you to immerse yourself in nature without being too far from the city’s vibrant energy. 😄
Rock Creek is beautiful, and I love hiking the trails and biking on weekends when Beach drive is closed. I had a horrible experience, though, with a picnic site I reserved there. I would give the park itself four stars, but the picnic site has gone way downhill.
A perfect urban escape: Rock Creek Park’s well‑marked trails whisk you from city bustle to leafy ridges and quiet creek‑beds in minutes. Scenic, well‑maintained, and easily accessible,an easy five‑star hike.
