Located at Steven O’ Connor Blvd in Warwick, Rhode Island, the Warwick City Dog Park is a popular destination for dog owners looking for a safe and accessible place to let their pets run off-leash. The park offers separated fenced areas for both small and large dogs, each with ample space for exercise and socialization. Shaded seating areas provide comfort for owners, while dogs can enjoy water bowls and toys provided by the community.
This dog park is known for its pet-friendly trails, which can get a bit muddy in rainy seasons, but offer dry, grassy, and wooded sections further in. The park is equipped with waste stations, trash bins, and running water to keep your visit convenient and clean. With good wheelchair accessibility and spaces friendly to both dogs and children, it’s a great spot for the whole family to enjoy outdoor time in Warwick, RI.
No matter how much the city tries to clean this place up, the humans destroy it. There is no social etiquette with the dogs. There are constant dog fights because that one dog is “friendly”. There is always glass found in there and it’s a urine plastered dust bowl.
I’ve tried several times over the last 20 years. It’s a hard no for me.
It’s much nicer now that they have changed the small and large dog areas so that there is shade in both areas. Now. In warmer weather there is water access and some seating available. The front quarter of both areas can get muddy during rainy and melting seasons, but the back more towards the wooded area is dry. Most people seem to be very respectful and clean up after their dogs, but sometimes there are people who don’t.
Love this place! For the pups, there are toys, running water, and bowls you can fill. For owners, there are chairs and a shady place to sit. Owners and doggies are super nice and owner etiquette has always been appropriate for humping, aggression, toy hogging, and interactions between owners. We have gone on different days/times meeting regulars and infrequent visitors. When there are no large dogs to play with, visitors to the small dog side have been kind enough to allow our large dog to play since she is so gentle and passive. I was disappointed to read the negative comments when it’s easy to seclude yourself from the other owners if you don’t want their company and the dog issues are to be expected in that environment. Owners have removed their dogs or disciplined any inappropriate behaviors immediately. Lots of lovely land to walk if interactions don’t go well.
Decent sized fenced dog park in the Warwick City Park. Front of the park was mostly sand… grass and wooded section further in.
Trash, bags, and water only at the entrance.
People were not at all friendly – not even a nod, let alone a conversation.
Separate sections for large and small dogs.
It’s a great place to bring your dog for some exercise and socialization. It’s safe and has enough space for a larger dog to get some good running in. The only issue (minor) is accessibility as you have to go through some convoluted roads to get there. All the other dogs there were pretty well behaved, but results may vary.
