Ward Dog Park, located at 12 Marshall St in Ward, AR, is a convenient, community-oriented dog park ideal for local dog owners seeking a clean and accessible space for their pets. This dog park stands out for its wheelchair-accessible parking, kid-friendly environment, and close proximity to central Ward city services. The fully fenced area allows dogs to run off-leash and features amenities like benches, waste bags, water spigots, and a small selection of toys. The park’s quieter setting makes it especially appealing for those who want to avoid the crowds of larger parks nearby.
While the park offers double-gated entry, ample space, and several benches for owners, some users note that the fence height may not be suitable for all larger or more agile dogs. Pet parents should be mindful of potential escape points on the south fence and keep an eye on their dogs, particularly large breeds. Suggestions from visitors include more shaded seating and additional play obstacles, hinting the city is receptive to improvements. Overall, Ward Dog Park is a great spot for off-leash play, quick dog walks and socialization in Ward, AR.
I ventured over to this dog park today because it’s just across the street from my home. I was so excited to find this park because I live in an apartment with no fenced yard and I have a very energetic medium sized dog. It’s a nice clean park with a few things for dogs to do and also benches to sit on. Waste bags and water are provided. They even have a basket with a few toys and balls. I gave it 4 stars and would have given it a 5 but the fence is too short for a dog park unless you have a small dog that can’t jump very high. I probably won’t be able to utilize the park because of that.
I’ve been using this dog park for a few years now and most of the time it’s a great experience. It’s location makes it less popular than other dog parks which is great and ideal for my pup and myself. However, last time we went to this dog park, about 15min after arrival, a stray dog wondered up and began visiting through the fence with my large male Golden Retriever. We decided to not let the dog in because he was also a male and we were unsure of how they may get along. The stray dog JUMPED THE FENCE and proceeding to attack my pup violently. With no owner in sight, my partner separated the two and threw the dog out of the park. The stray dog persistently tried to gain access back into the park to continue to instigate. My partner physically held the dog down while my pup and I made a run for the car. My partner and pup had bites that bled. Please be aware of the short fence and stray dogs in the area. It was a frightening experience and we won’t be back.
It would really improve the experience if there were more than just one ramp and a few benches. A few simple obstacles and a shaded area wouldn’t be very expensive, and would really improve the experience for dogs and their humans.
Very nice play area for my fur kids, the only thing I saw wrong were the gates, my pups could have easily opened them. Other than that, it was a great park
Ward dog park is great for taking K9 friends. Complete fence, double gates, water spigot for watering, trash can and dog wast bags all provided. Park is plenty large for dogs to run around. Shaded sitting area would be nice, but there are 4 benches in the park. The pooch did find an escape location on the South fence 15 feet from the concrete benches. Watch your dog in this area. Otherwise a great place to take the dogs. Park is located behind the town business/police building.
