Got to the benches at the little hut looked at my kids legs and saw like a thousand ticks the size of grains of sand swarming him. Spent the next forty five minutes picking ticks off ourselves.
I have never seen so many ticks in my life.
We were only on the path and stopped for a second to look at a lizard on the sign in the middle of the path when the ticks attacked us.
As we were leaving we saw some people pull up to the park and we told them not to walk on the path and they said “yeah the ticks are real bad over there”

This is a canal leading out to Lake Alto in Waldo. I guess it is navigable but the water is fairly green this time of year. I saw turtles sunning but not much other wildlife. Much of the land is in conservation but it appears you can launch a small boat.
