Located conveniently in the Village of Clarkston, Michigan, Deer Lake Beach offers a welcoming atmosphere for families and community members looking for an enjoyable day outdoors. This well-kept park features a clean lakefront beach with swimming sections divided by age groups, making it ideal for children and families. The location is known for its friendly staff, close parking, and well-maintained sand and facilities. The affordable entry fee and cash-only policy make it an accessible spot for locals and visitors alike.
While primarily recognized as a beach destination, Deer Lake Beach is also a great spot for picnics and relaxing with your leashed dog near the water or grassy areas. Amenities include volleyball courts, picnic spaces, a boat launch for eligible visitors, and nearby parking. Please note, the park’s policy emphasizes a family environment—no smoking, drinking, or partying is allowed, ensuring a safe, peaceful atmosphere for everyone.
This place is great for families with small children, it is easy to supervise. The amount of sand is nice for a child to play in. However for grown people there is very little room. Costed 16 dollars for two people only to sit on grass and have about 50 yards to swim in. It is also right next to a main road. Good for a picnic spot, not great for a beach day.
On one of the hottest days of the summer, I came to Deer Lake beach, first time being there! I was excited to experience the beach. However, when I got there it was a huge disappointment. The beach was filthy and the water was disgusting! My visit was awful! The only good thing about my visit is that the staff were friendly!
Great community beach. Close parking, affordable prices (cash only), friendly staff, water is clean and clear. Shallow and deep end. Space for sandcastle building too. Kids gave it 5 stars.
First time I was ever to Deer Lake beach is when I got my certification in scuba diving. It’s a super clean beach, very well maintained. Perfect spot to take in a sunset….
Love this little beach! Great staff, friendly and helpful. Very clean and we’ll maintained. Swim classes for many age groups. This is definitely a family oriented beach. No partying, smoking, drinking. Beach area divided for swimming according to age groups. Volleyball court on South end of beach. There is a boat launch also for those that have access privileges.
