Blue Heron Park is a popular, pet-friendly dog park located in Venice, FL, perfect for both small and large dog owners in Southwest Florida. This well-maintained park features separate, double-gated, fully fenced areas for both small (under 30 lbs.) and large dogs, ensuring a safe and secure environment to let your dog off-leash. The grassy play areas are regularly mowed, mostly free of pests, and the well-kept landscape adds to the overall pleasant experience for pets and their humans.
Dog owners enjoy the shaded benches with umbrellas positioned throughout the park, providing relief from the heat during sunrise or sunset. Running water is available upon entry, though visitors should bring their own bowls for their pets. Waste stations are maintained regularly to keep the park clean. While there is limited parking on-site, the friendly local dog owner community and the regular upkeep by Wellen Park’s landscaping crew make Blue Heron Park an excellent destination for safe, enjoyable, dog-friendly outings in Venice, Florida.
I have a paint group that loves to paint different parks in the area. This is a very pretty place.
The dogs are safe and secure at this two fenced in dog park, small and large dog play areas. It is well maintained with running water supplied as you enter the double gates. The people who bring their dogs here are the nicest people ❤️. The park is maintained by Wellen Park’s landscaping crew and the potty stations are cleaned regularly. No bugs, 90% grass that is mowed and no red ants or fire ants. Unless you want to be jumped on and pestered by everything’s dog, keep the treats at home or in your car. If you don’t want to lose your dog’s favorite sqeaky ball, leave it home or in the car. Benches with umbrellas are laid out in 3 corners, but it is best to go at sunrise and just before sunset to escape the brutal heat and sun of SW Florida. No bathrooms on sight but plenty of walking paths with trees so use your imagination but have a look out for alligators and coyotes and boar.
Very nice park to take your dogs to. The grass stays mowed often. I go there at least 5 days a week providing there is no evening storms.
