It is a great place for kayakers and small boats. The lake to the east is not connected to the other three. The west lakes are connected by small channels. During dry seasons the channels are either completely dry or very shallow. The lakes are “stocked” by the Stillwater River.
There are well cut and maintained trails around the lakes for hiking or to access points for fishing. Be aware that the better fishing spots are accessible by boat.
The park is generally clean, but a recent rise in popularity has drawn guests who leave food wrappers, bags, and tackle wrappers. Please, take all trash to the cans provided or take it with you.

Great place but quickly becoming popular and over fished. Old retired gravel pits. Watch out for the big angry beavers.

A hidden fishing spot. Quite enough to think. Clean. Boat ramp. Shade. And parking. No frills. Just a fishing spot.

I went night fishing. They were biting, but not catching. The moss was really bad by the banks.

So, I just happened to show up at Poplar pond during the trout stocking and spoke with a metro park officer who was nice enough to let me know that North Park was gonna get a trout stocking as well.

It took me a few days to get here, but once I arrived, it didn’t disappoint. It was a mostly cloudy day while fishing. The views were very pleasant and the park is very clean. Best part…..the fish were biting. I caught perch on nightcrawlers . and my trout limit with power bait. They were Killin it.

I enjoyed my peaceful 4 hrs at this park and will definitely be back this year as often as I can.
