The park features separate areas for small and large dogs, each with plenty of room to run and explore. The surface is mostly covered in bark/wood chips, ensuring a soft spot for paws and active play. Parking is easily accessible just off Fry Rd, making it convenient for visitors coming from anywhere in the area.
There are a variety of amenities designed for both pets and their owners. You’ll find water fountains with dog bowls, a covered picnic table area, benches, and waste stations stocked with poop bags. While the park is mostly open and can get a bit windy, there is a small shelter area for shade. This park is out in the open without any level of wind shield… There is a tiny shelter to get away from sun… and then there is about a foot of wood chips that are hard on the dogs legs, extremely dirty, and does not allow for any decent ball play. You throw the ball and it hides in a dip of wood chips.
It is unacceptable that Vacaville City Planners have such disdain for tax paying residents. Every “legal” dog park in Vacaville is over a ten minute drive from my house, has wood chips, and is often a place where people bring their aggressive and anti-social dogs, which leads to my obedient and highly socialized dogs living in fear. It is like dog prison.
Davis has close to a dozen parks with unfenced off leash grass parks, that are maintained like all other parks, and results in a park walking distance from any home. That is proper respect for taxpayers…. and just common sense. This is the same in most of the bay area.
There should be grass areas available for dogs in Vacaville. Shame on our city council.
