Ayer Park, located at 360 Depot St in Union, Maine, is a peaceful riverside park popular with both pet owners and families. This dog-friendly park features picturesque views of the St. George River, pet-friendly waterfront access for dog swimming, shaded picnic areas, and multiple types of terrain along the shoreline. With amenities like portapotties, picnic tables, charcoal grills, and a boat launch for kayaks or canoes, this is an excellent spot to enjoy a relaxing day with your pup or host a small group gathering. The park is described as quiet, clean, and perfect for outdoor activities, including frisbee and swimming for dogs.
While the parking area is on the smaller side, it is adequate for moderate group sizes and is wheelchair accessible. There is no mention of fenced or separate dog areas, so owners should monitor their pets and keep them close, especially near the road and by the river’s edge, which contains steep drop-offs and fast-moving water. With shade from trees, open spaces for playing, and easy access to the St. George River, Ayer Park stands out as one of the best dog parks in Union, Maine, for dog owners seeking a scenic and versatile outdoor location.
A wonderful park nestled just outside the center of Union with waterfront access. A nice place for a picnic, BBQ, small gathering, or even to launch a kayak, canoe, or bring your pup to enjoy the cool water. Has port a potties onsite along with picnic tables and charcoal grills.
Small parking area, but was more than adequate for a group of 15 or so people for a small work BBQ, and the grassy area was large enough to entertain some distance frisbee throwing.
Love the views and the multiple types of terrain on the shoreline. There’s nice boat launch, and a few parking slots for truck/trailer combos(but not nearly enough). There are porta-bathrooms that are wheelchair accessible, and some small charcoal grills for picnic burgers and such. You can access the St. George River with small vessel and follow it upstream to Round Pond and The Union Fairground. There are some trees for shade, but no dark creepy areas to keep away from!
This is a really great park to visit. Has ports potties and a small beach, also has grills to BBQ. But it is close to the road so hard if you have small children and there is the far side of the park by the bridge where there are steep drop off into fast moving water. Keep little ones close.
Beautify, quiet little park. Very clean. Great place for a picnic!
Brought my two dogs. Had a nice swim. Loved that there were portapotties available.
Nice parking area and picnic tables. Lovely view. Peaceful location.
