Funny that Sycamore state park is called “trail head”. Trails are awesome.
This was a fairly easy trail and would be a fun hike for young kids.8
Great long hike with varying terrain to keep it fun. Lots of different foliage. Most of the walk is near a creek as well.
The trails here are very muddy pretty much all the time. Wear proper shoes and bring insect repellent. The storybook trail is cute and seems to lead down to the fishing pond. The other trails continue through the park in a loop.
Okay, I love going on new trails in Dayton, and I was excited to see this one was pretty close to me. The storybook trail idea and the little library is really cute! However, the length of the tree branches hanging down over the trail meant that it was covered in spider webs (We couldn’t avoid them, we walked through about six or seven spider webs on the way down the trail). Unfortunately, the presence of the pond and it being July also meant… Horse flies. We only made it half way before I was chased by two horseflies relentlessly. With the spiderwebs and the horseflies, at that point, I was done 😂 I turned around and went home. I’ll return when it’s not crazy bug season. I wouldn’t recommend taking your kids right now lol.
