Great free off leash dog park! It was nice to hang with the locals and get the latest info on the area. Pearl had a great time playing with other dogs and getting lots of love!
The park is laid out with some thought to dog /human needs. Lots of fun to be had by all two and four and three legged creatures. One side has training structures that afford dog and child athletic challenges. Not a reflection of the park, some dog owners leave their dogs leavings to the city to clean up. Sad
My 11.5 year-old Roman Rottweiler, Raji, loved this place. Big enough to have “choices” yet small enough to always stay within reach of a bright yellow tennis ball tossed his way. The water, the shade area, and the park bench for owners to kick back on while their friend(s) explores made it a gem. We were the only ones there at the time so he had it all to himself. Just as well because he loves other dogs, however being 120 lbs. makes him a little too much for smaller kiddos. If they’re 60 lbs. and up and he’s a pal to those who like to play.
This would be a great little dog park if it weren’t for all the thorns! They seem to be the worst on the North and West sides of the park. Definitely don’t go barefoot and keep an eye on your pup. They don’t usually do too much damage but will get stuck in your pup’s paw pads. You can pull them right out but be sure you check your shoes when you leave, you’ll probably have the little buggars stuck in there too.
There is also a separate area for little dogs which is more grassy and seems to have less thorns.
ok dog park… Design is pretty good but must be fairly new dog park and city is dragging butt finishing all of it. There is literally section that is caution tape up… Oh and the one dog water fountain is in a stupid spot that can injure animals.. instead of one on big dog side and one on small dog side they have ONE centralized dog fountain in between each side with access from big and small side… Giving the potential for a small dog to get attacked by big dog…. Oh… And the stupid rules they have… Can’t take treats for your dog… Can’t have treats for the humans either… And a massively oversized awning for one little BENCH .. not even a table.. puny little bench… And don’t get me started on not a single blade of grass at a dog park.. all rock and gravel type stuff… You know … That stuff that gets hot in the sun and your not supposed to let your dogs walk on it because it can burn their paws 🐾
