Very pretty example of a New England pond.. has a beach area for swimming and a field.. bathrooms are clean and accessible.. there’s a trail around the lake and the area around it is gorgeous.. definitely worth a trip

I go here year round with my 16-year-old pup. No matter the season, it’s beautiful. In the summer months I stay away on weekends and holidays because it’s just too packed for my choosing. The only downside is when people don’t clean up after their dogs or themselves. It breaks my heart and makes the people who work there work three times harder! So bring your lunch, BBQ, dog, family, and fishing pole and then take EVERYTHING out with you so we can continue to enjoy this beautiful area forever!
For the little ones; bring sandles or shoes during geese season.
Have fun!

We’ve been here in the past to hike the 3 mole loop around the pond. And in the summer, we’ve paddleboarded here. Many people use this place for picnics in the summer so the parking can fill up. 2.2.25 we attended the winter fest here. What a great place to ice fish, etc.

I would have given this gorgeous state park a 5+++, but it was so cold this Saturday on February 1st. Nothing that could have been done about that, but enjoy the day! Horses, Husky dogs, DEEP,CT Audubon and several other groups were in attendance as well. The kids had a blast ice fishing. I stayed onshore with the dogs and horses and very knowledgeable folks from across the state who all had a common interest. Get outside and enjoy the wonder of nature.

The park is beautiful. The swimming area is excellent and clean. If you want a picnic table or shaded space, it’s first come first served. During the summer it gets quite busy. The hiking trails are also really nice and well-kept. The hiking is on the easier side. The trails are well marked and kept relatively clear. There are some muddy spots. Dogs are allowed as long as they’re leashed.
