Sur La Brea Park is a community gem nestled in Torrance, CA, offering a scenic and pet-friendly environment for both locals and visitors. This dog park features a dedicated area for canine companions, although the dog run is noted to be on the smaller side and covered in wood chip mulch. While this provides a natural setting, some owners caution it can be tough on small dogs’ paws. The park’s unique location delivers beautiful views, pet-friendly trails for dog-friendly hiking, and plenty of open grassy spaces for relaxing or recreation after time in the dog area.
The wider park is a hub for families, featuring a new playground with equipment suited for all ages, basketball and pickleball courts, and areas for baseball, soccer, and group exercise. There are public restrooms, rentable rooms, and BBQ areas, making it a full-service local destination. Street parking is available at the base of the hill, with the park being popular for sunset views, quiet walks, and relaxation. Sur La Brea Park stands out as a tranquil retreat for dog owners and a versatile green space in the heart of Torrance.
Great little Torrance park. They got new park equipment in the past few years. Tons of grass and running space. Nice sized play area for multiple age groups. There is a bathroom, a room you can rent through the city of Torrance, basketball hoops and a cute little free library.
We love this park because the playground is basically new and has very new wood chips as the base. The jungle gyms are both small and large so it’s good for little kids and big kids alike. It’s surrounded by nice big grassy fields. There is also an exercise area with nice equipment for calisthenics The basketball court and Pickleball courts are also nice so I think there’s some thing for everyone to enjoy here there is also parking on the street at the bottom of the hill.
There is also a public bathroom that is just OK. Better than nothing at all.
Good relaxing park plenty of green grass to lay on and enjoy kids playground I enjoyed the sunset on this particular day.
Sur La Brea Park’s pickleball courts are pretty nice. Having more than two pickleball courts is great! The courts are in great condition. The nearby trees drop a lot of leaves on the court but it did not interfere with play. The limited play hours (9am-4pm) is kind of a letdown, but the courts are nice.
Enough space to play baseball, soccer, basketball and there are also tennis courts, playground for kids, area for exercising, restrooms and there is also area to do barbecue. Take hour kids and pets there and you have everything you need in here! Enjoy
