Discover the scenic dog-friendly hiking and walking paths along the Niagara River at Shoreline Trail – Aqua Lane to Black Rock, located in the heart of Tonawanda Town, New York. This well-maintained pet-friendly trail is beloved by locals for its picturesque waterfront views, breezy walks, and ample opportunities for outdoor recreation. Joggers, cyclists, dog walkers, and families alike are drawn to this spot for its flat terrain, clearly marked shared lanes for bikes and pedestrians, and unique historic placards along the route.
While this trail is not a traditional fenced-in dog park, it offers plenty of green space for leashed dogs to enjoy. With multiple parking areas, restroom facilities, and a quiet atmosphere during the day, Shoreline Trail is ideal for leisurely walks with your canine companion. Kids can also take advantage of nearby playgrounds, soccer fields, and basketball courts, making this a great outing for the entire family. Please note that certain sections may experience odors due to a nearby sewer plant, and shaded or covered spaces along the path are limited.
I’m thrilled to have a trail like this next to the river. I just wish there were a few more covered areas along the path.
