Many hiking trails available at this parking/picnic area. There are trails available for all levels and distances. This Picnic Area is kept up and is clean. It is NULL a day to park and they do accept the enchantment pass. Beautiful trails with lots of scenery.

Bristlecone Pine

There is an extensive trail network at the picnic area. The Cienega Springs trail is about 2 miles up to the crest, fairly intense elevation gain. You can also pop on the Cienega Springs trail to connect to the faulty trail, which has ups and downs in elevation. Lots of horses and donkeys on the Armijo trail, which connects the faulty back down to the Cienega Springs picnic parking. Great place for any hiking ability, lots of options for short or longer hikes, kids enjoy playing around the picnic area and creek (if there is water). Beautiful ponderosa pine community.

Very cool place. Cienega trail will cross Faulty trail as well as take you onto the Sandia Mountain Wilderness. Very pretty forest.

Always a beautiful place to go. Some trails are paved and others are not. It’s s fun to explore and read about the plant life that grows around the area. You can play in the trickle of water that flows there as well.
