Great place to walk
Nice to walk around and relax
Not sure about this address. There is two address to this place on Google. The parking lot was closed when I went.
Great place to visit for hiking, picnics. It’s also a great place to bring your pets for walks. I enjoy very early morning and evenings to bring my golden retriever.
I noticed the sign for Northfield Brook Lake when driving home so I pulled in to check it out. It was a weekday and only two other cars were there. I took a walk which was 3 miles long on the trails, parking lot and up over the dam.
It could be a 5 Star park with just a few changes for hikers. On a kiosk there was a small black & white map of the park with a hiking trail on it. No map to take and not large enough to take a picture of. There isn’t any other signage showing where the trail head is located. I missed the trail head but found the trail after cutting up the hill on a little used unmarked trail. I was looking for a trail that would lead to the dam. I found it but it’s overgrown so it’s not often used. There were mountain bike tracks that must have been new since there was heavy rain a few days before. This White trail has lots of poison ivy along it so keep an eye out for it. It did lead up to the dam making it worth the effort. I walked across the dam to Northfield Road which I walked almost a mile to get back to the main park entrance.
If you are going here to have a picnic, it’s a 5 Star park. There are lots of picnic tables, bathrooms and parking for lots of cars. There are a few covered pavilions with picnic tables. Some of the pavilions can be reserved for groups.
If you are looking to take a hike, this is not the best park. It needs a sign showing where to get to the trailhead, paper maps at the kiosk which would get more people hiking making the trail less overgrown. I wish the trails were on Google Maps.
