We did another overnight stay in the 500s sites. Large pull through, plenty of room for 45′ + toad. Check in quick and efficient, staff is 5 stars.
Only wish that the Wifi worked.

This campground is in the middle of absolutely nowhere. Narrow roads to get there. Once there, it has a small beach and a nice pool, but you can’t be outside AT ALL if mosquitos like you. They swarm all over, invade the camper and generally make your stay miserable. Also, they are the size of pterodactyls. We ended up staying inside the entire stay. We will not go back.

Sunset was amazing, right next to Chincoteague, and overall best campground we’ve been to. We were nervous based on previous reviews, but the bugs and WIFI were not an issue. Golf cart was a bonus. Splash pad and pool were amazing. Staff was very helpful. Amazing KOA!

We had terrible weather during our stay, with rain and a hurricane, but on the one sunny day of the week our kids loved the splash pad, pool and bouncy pillow. Due to the rain the staff accommodated us in moving from a tent site into a safari tent for one night and the safari tent was very comfortable.
Facilities were very clean, though we came mid week and the camp was pretty empty, so not sure what it’s like on a busy weekend. Store closes pretty early compared to other KOAs we have been to and the snack bar was closed during the days we were staying. My main complaints would be that the wood sold was super damp, the outdoor sink was clogged and the shower heads in the main bathhouse should be replaced.
We would love to come back when the weather is better to enjoy the beach and the pools

We just spent a week at the campground. We arrived a day early by mistake and they were so accommodating, our site was available so we were escorted right to it. The Water view sites are by far the best I believe! The view of the sound was amazing and the breeze and open area kept bugs at bay. The office staff were great, the campground and its amenities were clean and well kept. The best part was the proximity to Chincoteague. Short 30 min trip and your surf side. The campground is out on the back roads and quiet. We can’t wait to come back and bring our friends! Great week!

As a seasoned camper, this campground left A LOT to be desired. First off, the front desk, specifically BARBARA, was the absolute worst to deal with – she was unwelcoming, short, rude, and generally unhelpful. The first impression always sets the tone for us, and upon arrival the last thing we wanted was to deal with her smug attitude. I have to mention that we are minorities at most campgrounds we stay at, and unfortunately, Barbara’s disposition left me to believe that she was an underlying racist as she was 100% different with the campers that looked like her.

The grounds are fairly well kept except for the poor drainage system around the majority of the sites when there is rain…this leads to A LOT of standing water which meant we dealt with an incessant amount of horse flies. I ended getting bitten all over and resulted in an overactive histamine reaction. This made sitting outside miserable despite all of our efforts to repel them. Flies also kept getting into the camper a few at a time creating a constant effort to swat them out so as not to risk falling asleep with them inside.

We stayed in Water View 1 and it was the second to perfect location that we could’ve been outside of a water front site. The view was spectacular, we had a large, green grassy area that would’ve been nice to use if it didn’t have divots of water and the flies issue. The beach is also well taken care of, but BEWARE, there are some land bugs that look like oversized potato (pill) bugs that infest the rocks at the beach and make their way to the sites surrounding the beach area.

Like others have said, the distance between the camp sites and common areas pretty much forces you to rent a golf cart. The bathhouses were humid and not clean enough for my liking. The main office/store had pretty much everything you would need. Kids and parents seemed to enjoy the pool area and they did have a pretty fun pool party with a DJ while we were there. Although I didn’t eat from it, everyone appeared to enjoy the snack food from the snack bar adjacent to the pool.

Overall, YES, I would love to return but this KOA HAS to address the common issue that campers are experiencing with some of the staff at the front desk. This type of negative initial interaction can discourage one from ever wanting to patronize these campgrounds again. Friends that we camped with also shared their dissatisfaction with Barbara’s attitude and unfortunately already decided they’ll never be returning. It would also be nice to correct the other ancillary issues to justify the price campers pay to stay here – at least show us that our business is appreciated and our investment is properly used to enhance the camping experience.

I know this review will garner their typical robotic response without any regard to the issues at hand, but that will further our decision making on whether we ever return again or not. When booking, do it with the understanding that there are more cons than pros, unless you’re white.
