This is actually a very nice park for the area. It has basketball and tennis courts, playgrounds, barbecue facilities, a baseball diamond, a dog park, and brand new bathroom facilities.
Teaneck doesn’t have any REAL parks, but this comes reasonably close.
Nice tennis courts with easy parking.
The big dog run was nice. Made or small gravel. The gravel by the gates coming in and out need evening, it is hard to open the gates. There’s a water fountain outside the dog runs for humans and dogs. Wish they had some bowls inside the runs for them to drink because otherwise, you have to leash them up and leave to access water; you could always fill it up and bring it in. There were a lot of dogs to play with. The sizing is as follows: under 25 pounds for the small run and 26+ pounds in the large run. There was a good amount of balls for them to play with as well. Poop bags and trash-can are available. There are plenty of benches to sit on.
As a bergen county resident I can say there’s lots of parks I enjoy but this one is awesome! It’s right by a university so ofcourse it’s well kept and it’s even got a sprinkler for those hot unbearable days! Plus versatile for multiple ages. Definitely great for the family
AGGRESSIVE/REACTIVE DOGS
I’ve recently brought my dog to the park and it was 6 different times on different days that my dog was attacked by a reactive/aggressive dog. There was two times where he got attacked by 2 dogs at once.
It’s absolutely ridiculous how there’s no signs or legal warning saying that there is no reactive/aggressive dogs allowed in the dog park. Please put a sign up phelps park. I feel bad for these other dogs who might also be potentially attacked.
