🐾 Kids at the Dog Park: Real Stories, Safety Risks & Smarter Solutions
If you’ve spent time at an off-leash park, you’ve probably seen it:A parent strolls in with a stroller 🚼 or […]
While primarily a remote control flying field, BCMA is located in Teaneck, New Jersey and offers a unique, open area that is occasionally frequented by dog owners in the area. The field provides a wide, paved runway area surrounded by trees and water, delivering a natural setting perfect for a stroll with your pup if you’re looking for a pet-friendly outing or somewhere new to explore in Northern NJ.
Please note, this location is dedicated to RC aircraft club members’ activities, but visitors often enjoy the community atmosphere, shaded spots from the sun, seating at provided tables, and scenic views by the water. Restroom access is extremely limited with only a porta-potty on site, and no running water or electricity is available. While not a traditional fenced dog park, the area provides natural boundaries thanks to the surrounding trees and water.
I love this place to fly my EDF jets, for all new comers this field is only for FIXED WINGED AIRCRAFT (No Drones or Helis) gas and electric aircraft (No turbines allowed either). The runway is paved, just 250ft, we fly over water, and have lots of trees from both ends, so it’s a must you slowly learn to fly at BCMA as it can be very challenging. There’s no water or electricity, just a Porto-potty. There’s plenty of tables and also shade from the sun. Most of the older members fly in the mornings, and the younger guys fly in late afternoon to sundown times. It gets busy on weekends especially days with low winds. You must have a valid AMA card and join one of the clubs to fly there, but guests are welcomed with a current members.
Good paved runway, but cross winds can be very serious at times. Also, the orientation is towards the southeast. So morning flying is always with the sun in your face.
Ignore the 5 star rating, even though it might be my opinion when I go there, but am I allowed to bring my rc edf jet without like a license or anything? New to the hobby, just curious if I can just come and fly for fun and leave without license or anything.
Not a huge airfield, but has a good sized paved runway. Bullrushes and water are very close, so of your a beginner, I would fly close to the runway area . Dont want to crash out beyond that. Main gate is locked, so you need a code to access the field.
Going to update review: Great place to fly RC. As mentioned, there’s trees behind the flying area, bushes and trees on the ends of the runway and the approach from the north is a long left turn or you’ll snag the trees (ask me how I know). Good challenge, and the sun is against your eyes prior to noon so bring your sunglasses.
You MUST be a member to fly at the club. Its busy on weekends and people are very friendly and helpful so just ask around for anyone interested. You are also required to do your FAA TRUST certification and register your aircraft with its number. Speak to a senior member to test you and that’s all there is to it. Its under Teterboro and sometimes NOTAMs will ground all RC so its worth checking before going otherwise the gate’s closed.
