Matheson Park in Taylorsville, North Carolina, offers a welcoming environment for families and their furry companions. This pet-friendly park features scenic, partially shaded walking trails that loop and intertwine, making it great for leisurely strolls or a refreshing walk with your dog. There are numerous green spaces, a playground, picnic tables, and restroom facilities, making it ideal for a day out with both kids and pets. Please note, the park does not have dedicated dog stations or a fenced-in dog area, so remember to keep your dog leashed and bring your own poop bags and water.
What makes Matheson Park unique for local dog owners is the beautifully maintained landscape, variety of walking trails, and its overall family-friendly atmosphere. While not specifically a dog park, the open spaces and trails provide plenty of room for dogs to explore. It’s an excellent spot for dog-friendly hiking, a relaxing riverside walk, or a picnic under the trees, all right in the heart of Alexander County. Clean restrooms, seating areas, and reserved shelters add to the convenience for all visitors.
Great place to bring the kids to release their pent up energy or rent one of the shelters for a Birthday party! Shelter 6 is the larger one with electrical outlets and bathroom included.
Bathrooms were very clean and the park is well maintained now.
This is a beautiful small partially shaded walking park! Has a few different loops that intertwine to make up different distances and a stretch station too at what I think is the side entrance. A play area, picnic tables (some require reservations), and bathroom. The bathrooms are a bit rough and as a disabled woman with service/support dogs a few benches along the loops on the far side would be nice but that’s just my preference it is still an enjoyable park for me and my dogs. There are no dog stations but I carry their bowl, water, and poop bags on me so not an issue for me.
Absolutely love this park. Our 2 year old had a blast. ❤
Although this park is a nice spacious park. It was dirty and still had police tape all over the playground. I was disgusted by the mounds of trash that was there. The children were also playing with the barrels that were there.
