If you’re looking for a top-rated dog park in Tacoma, Washington, Wapato Park Off-Leash Dog Park is a must-visit for pet owners in the area. Nestled near a serene lake, this spacious, fully fenced park offers three large, separate off-leash areas, including distinct spaces for small and large dogs. Pet-friendly trails wind through wooded sections and open areas, perfect for exercising energetic pups and enjoying dog-friendly hiking with community members.
Wapato Park is known for its ample amenities: benches are scattered throughout for owner comfort, while dogs benefit from fresh water stations and complimentary poo bags. There’s also a large parking lot nearby and easy access to restrooms for convenience. Though the main areas can get muddy or dusty in certain seasons, the well-maintained environment, friendly dog owner community, and beautiful park scenery make it a popular spot for Tacoma locals and visitors alike.
Wapato Dog Park was a great spot! My dog had plenty of room to run and play. I liked that there are separate areas for small and big dogs. It helps keep things safe and comfortable for everyone. We spent time on the big dog side, and it was perfect. Definitely planning to come back again!
Decent dog park, the high traffic area is very dusty/ muddy depending on weather. Feels more dirty
Than most dog parks. However It has what you need. The surrounding area is makes this dog park better. Someone had there purse stolen from their car after 10min of being there.
3 very large divided areas- all with wooded walking paths and large clear areas for playing ball. Lots of owners socializing and watching their dogs have fun as well as walking the trails in this beautiful area. Also had nice sized parking lot and park rest room not far. Really appreciative of this wee used park.
My dog loves this park, especially the upper section of the woods. It’s 100% fenced in so roaming around off leash is perfectly safe for wanderers, such as mine. There are sitting benches scattered throughout the park, fresh water for the dogs and complimentary dog poo bags in several locations. It’s a relatively clean park as I rarely see dog messes left behind. We enjoy spending our evenings here exploring and making beautiful things up in the woods.
Love walking around the quiet, serene lake. There is a good size dog park behind the lake and more walking course by the dog park. Always plenty of parking
I live in Puyallup, don’t mind driving 25 minutes to this beautiful place
