🐾 How to Handle Aggressive Dogs at the Dog Park – Real Advice from Dog Owners
Visiting the dog park can be a joyful activity for both you and your furry friend—but aggressive encounters can quickly […]
Swartz Creek Dog Park is a small, fenced dog park with separate areas for large and small dogs, suitable for dogs and their owners looking for a convenient spot to socialize and exercise. The park features wheelchair accessible entrance and parking, and a few benches for seating. However, it has limited shade and no water sources, making it less ideal for high-energy dogs or hot days. The park is located near a busy intersection and expressway, which can contribute to noise.
I have been to a lot of dog parks. This is by far the smallest. It has two sections that are both smaller than the average backyard. You have to walk through one section to get to the other, so if one is being used by small dogs, they have to walk past the large dogs. Because both areas are so small, I would not recommend more than 4 dogs there at any one time. Don’t bother brining a Chuck-it for fetch because you will throw the ball over the fence.
The worst part about this dog park is there is absolutely no shade. It was 80 degrees when we went and my dogs played for 10 minutes before they were so hot they were hiding under the A-frame for shade. They are used to playing in our yard that has a lot of trees.
If you live in an apartment without a yard and have a small dog, this could be a good place to take them. This is not a place for a high-energy dog to work out their energy because there is not enough space for that.
It’s okay if you live near it but I would not go out of my way to bring my dog here. It has a separate space for big and small dogs.
Over grown Landscape with weeds all over. There is no water source for the dogs. Only 3 small benches for dog owners to sit. The location of the park is close to busy corner of Elms and Miller rd. The expressway (I-69) is also only about 50yds away. All this traffic makes for a very noisy and unenjoyable experience. And to the lady who showed up and asked me to move my 60lb dog to the small dog area because your dog is not good with other dogs, drop your entitlement. This is a dog park, if your dog dosent get along with other dogs find someplace else to take your dog.
First time taking my pup there today. He’s 14 weeks old and wasn’t sure what to do with all that open space! Great place to entertain your best friend for a bit!
If you have real friendly dogs this is a great place to go. Been there several times with my collie.
She has made a lot of friends.
