Mt. Latuna Trail, Trailhead

Mt. Latuna Trail, Trailhead

Mt. Latuna Trail is a moderately challenging trail in Sun Valley, CA, suitable for kids and nature enthusiasts. The trailhead is somewhat hidden behind a high school, with no dedicated parking at the entrance but available on nearby side streets. The trail is about 3 miles long and wheelchair accessible parking is not available. There are some concerns about coyotes in the area, so caution is advised. No restrooms or other dog park amenities are available at this location.

No bathrooms and no parking on street next to school. Must park on side street. Trail head is at the end of the road behind highschool.

ENTRANCE TO TRAIL CLOSED!!! Was so mad…took an Uber (NULL) from my hotel to this trailhead…big sign saying “No Trespassing-NULL fine” Obviously, had to ask Uber driver to turn around and drive me back to hotel…total bust & waste of time….

The potential was there. It looked liked a nice, challenging little trail. But much like the previous review, we ran into a couple of coyotes about ten minutes into it. Went at about 4:45 pm. The bigger one saw us and started getting curious so we had to turn back 🙁

Trail had a coyote prob about 60 lbs. Beginning not well kept, possibly poison ivy. Couldn’t get more than 10 min cuz of the coyote. Saw it hunting a squirrel which was cool, but I didn’t want to be the one hunted. Switched over to olive terrace which is a good trail only 10 min down the road

I found this trail by searching google and without doing so I don’t think I would have found it. I gave the trail a four-star rating because I had to park a block away from the entrance of the trail which was oddly located in the back of a High School. Once I got pass finding the trail I did have a pleasant experience. I was a bit concerned from an earlier review on seeing coyotes but I didn’t encounter any during my hike which was a little over 3 miles.
