Absolutely 1 of the best parks in Southern Wisconsin. My pup Absolutely loves it there. I have never had a problem with anyone else’s pup.

Enjoyable dog park with separate dog area for smaller dogs. Most of the gravel path within the park is in an open field, and part of the path goes through a bit of woods. There is a shelter and tables on top of the hill that are enjoyable to sit at while you watch your doggo(s) play!

It’s our home park. Not the biggest, but plenty of room to run and chase. In general, the people I have met there over the years are great.

The downsides – The drainage is not great. I will not go here if it rained recently. I realize mud is a part of owning a dog. This park is set up on an old landfill, which is fine, it’s a good way to repurpose the land. Sycamore Park is Madison is also on a landfill. This is probably common knowledge to most who go to these parks. I don’t know the reason, but the top soil at the sun prairie park stays wet for days. There are swampy places that could be solved by doing some minor regrading. The lower wooded section in the back usually has standing water. Dog poop. I don’t know what people’s problem is, but there is a lot of dog crap everywhere. Bags and trash cans are available. Pick up you shit folks. Which bring we back to the standing water. It’s probably 50% crap water.

At some point, your dog will wind up covered in shit because someone else is lazy. It gets pretty bad in winter. It would almost be forgivable if we had a lot of snow accumulation this year, but that has not been the case. Getting a baggy, taking of your mitten and picking up crap is too much to ask, don’t go to dog parks. These are probably the same people that leave their dog crap ON the sidewalks and bike paths.

Your mileage may vary. Token Creek dog park is not far away and the turds per acre is far far lower, and there are no swampy areas.

Miss Stella LOVES the Sun Prairie dog park, and so do I!
It’s not too far from home, great big open space with a nice gravel path, water for the dogs, shaded sitting area for the peoples and pups, and benches throughout.

This is a beautiful park. It seems very well maintained. We’ve been a number of times in the past two months since moving from Arizona. Where we had a yard and space for them to run around outside.

We have 2 dogs, small ones. About 25 pounds and a 10 pound dog. We do keep them in the small dog area only because they haven’t familiarized themselves with the larger dog yet. will slowly move them in there.

I have not experienced an owner, not cleaning up after their dog, nor have I experienced aggressive dogs or rude owners like mentioned in previous posts.

We have been several times in the past two months, and we plan to continue going back
