🐾 How to Handle Aggressive Dogs at the Dog Park – Real Advice from Dog Owners
Visiting the dog park can be a joyful activity for both you and your furry friend—but aggressive encounters can quickly […]
Nestled within the growing Carnes Crossroads community, the Dog Park @ Carnes Crossroads in Summerville, South Carolina, provides a convenient spot for locals looking for a pet-friendly place to let their dogs run and play off-leash. Unlike traditional grassy parks, this dog park features smooth gravel surfaces throughout, which some visitors find unique but may not be ideal for all dogs, especially those sensitive to rougher ground.
The park includes two fully fenced sections, each designed for either large or small dogs, providing a safe environment for all sizes to play and socialize. Both areas are equipped with fun agility obstacles like hurdles, rings, and a ramp, offering opportunities for light training and interactive play. Owners will appreciate benches inside for seating, while the entire park remains well-maintained and clean. However, visitors should note that shade is lacking, and the gravel surface can be tough on some dogs’ feet. Despite its smaller size, Dog Park @ Carnes Crossroads is a friendly, community-focused spot for dog owners seeking an off-leash experience in the Summerville area.
The area was nice and clean. Fun things for my dog to play on, Bench for us to sit on. My dog loved the big fire hydrants.
We went to the dog park thinking it would be a great experience for our two dogs. That was not the case,
we were there for maybe 30-45 minutes and by the time we left our dogs feet were bleeding from the gravel. Very upsetting. I hope they upgrade the dog parks to something more pet friendly.
I don’t like the rocks as opposed to grass. Might be good if your dog can do the obstacles, but they really look cuter than function well. Tough space to do anything special, so I don’t even know how it could be better except for the awful rocks that you have to walk on.
The dog park is small, but it has two identical fenced areas, one for large dogs and one for small, each containing small hurdles, rings, and a ramp. These obstacles are nice for training. The whole area is smooth gravel, no grass. The biggest downside is there is no shade.
The dog park is extremely small and just has gravel, no grass. I took my 6 mo puppy and 4 yo dog here a couple of weeks ago hoping they would run around and interact with new dogs, not the case. They did not like the gravel (would not run around) and there were no dogs. I get that no dogs being present isn’t an easy fix, but the gravel thing was a little odd. Further more, the park was super small. I had envisioned something a lot bigger with more room for the pups to run around.
