Fred Clifton Park in Stuart, Virginia, is a peaceful, pet-friendly retreat nestled in the Appalachian mountains. This park is perfect for dog owners seeking tranquil, dog-friendly hiking trails, breathtaking scenic overlooks, and ample picnic opportunities in a wooded setting. With well-maintained paved roads leading to a convenient parking area and easy, short trails to the summit, it offers easy access for visitors and their pets.
Enjoy beautiful views, mountain laurels, and lots of shaded picnic tables scattered among the trees. Owners can rest on wooden decking platforms, enjoy BBQs at available grills along the trails, and take advantage of the park’s rustic amenities like porta potties. While not a dedicated, fenced dog park, Fred Clifton Park is ideal for leashed walks, pet-friendly picnics, and capturing stunning photos of your dog in the heart of Virginia’s natural beauty.
Breathtaking views and far enough from the road to be peaceful.
Beautiful scenic views! It’s a small walk from the parking area to the summit but the trail isn’t too difficult to hike. They do have some grills on the trails as well which I found random but very cool. Highly recommend to come!
My favorite scenic stop on the east side of the country! Have to walk the short trail and have a picnic at one of the picnic tables. Get lots of pictures and use the port a potty of course before descending back down the mountain. Appalachian mountains at its best!
Great place to stop for picnic and take in the beautiful views!
