If you’re looking for a pet-friendly outdoor destination in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, Glen Run Nature Preserve is a fantastic option. The preserve offers serene and well-marked dog-friendly hiking trails that wind through peaceful woodlands, providing both an easy stroll and a chance to explore longer loops of up to 4 miles. With scenic views around the lake and plenty of grassy areas, it’s a relaxing place for dogs who love to walk alongside their owners or enjoy nature at their own pace.
Glen Run stands out for its tranquil atmosphere, wildlife sightings (including deer and even the occasional bear), and clean, well-maintained grounds. In addition to the trails, visitors can enjoy a small playground, picnic spots under a covered gazebo, and off-street parking. While not a traditional fenced dog park, the preserve’s open spaces and beginner-friendly paths make it perfect for leashed walks and gentle adventures with your pet. Visit in any season to enjoy the changing scenery, from snowy winter hikes to colorful fall foliage—and bring your family, as kids love the play areas too!
It was easy to find and have off street parking. It was a nice maybe 3-4 mile loop. The ground was covered in snow and it was still a pretty easy trail but still nice.
My first time and love this hiking trail, love the trail blazers you can’t get lost, it is also an easy trail, so amazing for any age age group, enjoy you all.
Very nice hiking trail. The one I went on was about 2.5 miles and very well marked. It’s currently very snowy and icy. I would say it’s semi-dangerous without spikes as it’s very slippery and parts of the trail are downhill. Trails are very well marked and easy to navigate. Dog friendly.
We went yesterday. Four of us and our 90 lbs dog. We came across a Buck who came up to us, not sure if it was for food or to confront us but he literally was approaching us and we came across what we believe were 2 different bears.
The trail was fine and it was a nice day. There were some muddy areas after all the recent rain.
This spot is gorgeous and serene & perfect for those who aren’t looking for an intense hike &/or if you have a doggie who loves grass but gets winded easily. Granted, it was pretty darn hot July 4th w/e 2025!
