West Meadow Beach in Stony Brook, New York offers a stunning North Shore destination perfect for sunset lovers, families, and dog owners. Known for its beautiful pebbly shoreline and calm, clean water, this pet-friendly beach attracts visitors with scenic photography opportunities, a peaceful atmosphere, and some of the best sunsets on Long Island.
This dog-friendly park provides convenient metered parking for non-residents and seasonal pass options for locals. Amenities include public restrooms, a small playground for kids, and a laid-back environment ideal for casual strolls. A specially laid plastic path makes the area accessible for wheelchairs and strollers, ensuring everyone—and every pup—can enjoy the beach. While dogs are welcome, specific leash requirements and fenced dog run details are not provided, so pet owners should be mindful and respectful of park rules.
The sand is fine
However, the beach smells weird, and there are so many mosquitoes.
Ignore all that,
It is one of the best place to take photographs.
Beautiful pebbles .. calm, clean water ❤️
one of the best spot to catch the sun set 🌅
Residents must buy a seasonal beach pass parking sticker, and non-locals have to pay the daily parking fee. (I think it’s NULL/day) Restrooms are available. Small Playground for the kids.
Best beach for sunsets!
Ok beach with fun things for the kids. But beware, if you’re not a Brookhaven resident and you have to pay NULL/hr at the machine, this place will ticket you NULL while you’re actively in the process of paying to park. Do better Brookhaven.
I’ve been coming here forever. This was the spot that we came to for my whole life
Including now.
I just love it here It’s just the best space.
Most beautiful sunsets you’ll ever see on the North shore or from right here.
Today was kind of special I rode my motorbike for the first time to this sacred spot for sunset.
Somehow someway one of the spots that I always parked in as a young kid right in front was open because this lot is usually packed for sunset I pulled right up and I was right in front and got some really beautiful shots
It really is just one of the best beaches. I know it’s all rocks and it’s not really beach per se but it’s still one of the best places.
Now they made it metered parking which makes it more convenient for other people but I didn’t pay for it I wasn’t staying long I just pulled instead of my bike and was about to leave right after the sunset
Some other biker stopped and talked to me and asked what I was riding. I love that as well. She was on a live wire Harley I believe couldn’t even hear anything electric bike crazy.
Bathrooms are open and just a great place to stop before I left went to say hello to my friend Jim who’s been forever.
Take a stroll down the beach It’s so worth it and either direction.
There’s a nice plastic path that they lay down for people in wheelchairs or carts or anything to be able to roll over the rocks to get out on the beach a little better.
Just my favorite place in the world
