Very nice Wilderness Trails…. Lots of exposed roots in the ground, but easy to navigate… This property abutts the back of Tanglewood property….. One freaks descending ridge with collecting streams feeding Stockbridge Bowl…. It’s a Dog friendly spot…..At the lower elevation, along the waters edge is a sitting bench with some shade that looks out across the whole lake….. Very peacefulLocated on route 183 just below Hawthorne Street, across the roads from Kripalu Yoga Center.
Gorgeous walk down to the lake – Stockbridge Bowl – which starts at Gould Meadow – a lovely grassy open field that leads into the woods and across a lovely small stream.You can do a circular walk across open small fields just below Tanglewood and along a narrow wooded path along the lake filled with new and old trees. Easy to moderate walk.Good all year. Wear sneakers or boots with good tread especially in wet times/ seasons. In winter use a walking stick and or yak tracks or similar tread in ice and snow.Check yourself for ticks 10 months of the year. Stay to the path and don’t brush against branches and mostly you will be tick free. All of Bershire walks and most lawns require tick checks. Black Deer Legged Ticks – the one that carries Lyme and other nasty diseases tend to be most active in the shoulder seasons and when nights are cool but it varys year to year. Don’t let it stop you. It’s a great walk.
Great easy 30 minute to one hour walk to the lake and back. Several lovely interconnecting trails through fields and woods. Rolling terrain close to and next to the lake called Stockbridge Bowl. Photos from mid April.
