Love this place … dogs love this place!
I tried a few doggie day cares after moving to Chantilly, but the dogs clearly weren’t happy in any of them. I thought Old Towne Pet Resort would be expensive, but turns out it’s competitively priced and offers a superior experience with a variety of add-ons to make stays more fun and rewarding. I want to highlight a lot of the positives but it’s important to know that I’m likely a PIA. I don’t need doggie day care because I work from home.
but my large golden doodles need constant attention and I have much more productive work days when they’re not here, so I take them 2-4 times a week. I’m very picky and want them to have a great day.
First, and most importantly, is the quality of the staff. Robin (Director, I believe) is extremely patient with us PIAs and very understanding. He always listens carefully, offers great suggestions/advice as to which add-ons my girls seem to enjoy the most, and really knows dogs. It is clear that all of the front desk staff love the dogs. They greet us warmly, chat with “the girls” and often share a story about one of my dogs. I’ve experienced the made-up report cards at other places so when OTPR staff tell me about a funny behavior that fits my dogs’ personality perfectly, I know it was a genuine interaction. Jen at the front desk is extremely organized and professionally juggles those of us checking in day care dogs, with those coming for grooming, with those coming or going for boarding. Always careful to take in all of the important details and documenting. In fact, all of the front desk staff is great at this and making the dogs feel welcomed, but I happen to remember Jen’s name. They’re all awesome.
Secondly, they have nothing to hide. So there are cameras not just in every day camp (there are 3), but multiple cameras in each. So nothing is happening off camera that you don’t see. I keep one computer monitor displaying the girls at camp so I can glance over and see them. Switch cameras if I want a better view or if they walked outside. They can come and go from inside to outside play as they please and there is a camera outside as well.
I have them do the group swim every day and often get a text to let me know they’re headed to the pool. I can switch to the camera in the pool area to watch them play there. Group swim is NULL. You can also sign them up for recess for NULL which changes every day – tug-of-war, bubbles, splash party, ball pit or dance party. It’s just another way to break up their day and they move to another room for that. Yes, there’s a camera there too. And, because my dogs need/want/love a lot of attention, I often add “cozy cuddles”, where a staff person takes them to a suite or office and just spends time interacting with them, cuddling, petting, etc. I’m sure this is their favorite time of the day.
There are many more activities you can add. Sometimes I’ll add agility to get them grass time outside and the challenge of doing the things the teacher shows them to do on the agility course.
It’s just so much better than leaving your dog at a place where there are not many humans overlooking a room full of a lot of dogs, basically just cleaning up pee/poop. I see the staff petting my dogs in the day camp rooms, see one of my dogs playing with the other dogs (the other is only interested in humans) and I know they’re having a good day. They get excited when I tell them it’s a doggie day care day and they’re excited to get there and say hi to all the humans.
Definitely check this place out — well worth the money!
I was really worried about leaving my 18 year old cat after she just arrived from a 32 hour trip. When we arrived at the pet resort I was immediately put at ease by the outstanding facility and could clearly see that the staff there really cared about the animals. It’s a fabulous place and I would definitely recommend it.
Olde Towne Pet Resort has been an amazing experience for my goldendoodle, Gracie! From the moment we pull into the parking lot, her tail starts wagging like crazy. She knows she’s in for a fun-filled day. The staff is incredibly friendly, attentive, and clearly passionate about animals. They treat Gracie like family, and I can tell she feels safe, loved, and totally at home.
One of my favorite features as a dog mom is the webcams! I love being able to check in on Gracie throughout the day and see her playing, relaxing, or just enjoying herself. It gives me such peace of mind knowing she’s happy and well cared for.
She absolutely loves every minute of day camp and always comes home happy and tired (in the best way).
Thank you, Olde Towne Pet Resort, for giving Gracie a place where she can thrive, socialize, and have a blast. Highly recommend to any pet parent looking for top-notch care and fun for their furry family member!
We are absolutely impressed with the customer service, kindness and care of the staff at the Dulles location. We just moved to the area and we’re looking for a place that can care for our Luna when we are at work. This is and will be the place! Thank you so much for allowing us to have Luna stay and visit and have her evaluation with you all!!!
Our dogs absolutely love this place and it is the only place we trust for boarding, baths, day camp, swimming, training, etc. The staff here is wonderful, super friendly, knowledgeable, and they really give the best care around for the pets. There are so many activities and amenities that are offered, we feel that our dogs get just as much attention and fulfillment in their day as they do when they’re with us at home. We love that Day Camp is included with boarding stays and that they come back relaxed, happy, and ready to nap. We even got some really cute photos from their last stay!
The option to have our dogs do some training while they’re boarding is also a bonus! We have had both of our dogs train with Meagan, the dog trainer, and she is fantastic.
We could not be happier with how our dogs are cared for and treated here. We’ve tried and looked into just about every other dog boarding/day care/training facility (including at home pet sitting) in the DMV area before finding Olde Towne Pet Resorts – and seriously, nothing compares. We are so glad we found this place!
