Located at 2501 Cherokee Rd, the Cherokee Point Conservation Area offers a serene, natural setting for dog owners and their pets in St Cloud, Florida. This pet-friendly destination is noted for its extensive conservation land, making it a great place for casual walks, exploring nature and enjoying peaceful outdoor time with your four-legged friend. While not a traditional dog park with separate play areas or dog-specific structures, the conservation area is a popular local spot for dog-friendly hiking and enjoying natural Florida landscapes together.
This conservation area is primarily designed for hiking, so dogs should be leashed at all times while on the trails. It’s an excellent option for those seeking quiet moments, wildlife observation, and pet-friendly trails close to home. However, amenities such as fenced enclosures, off-leash areas, and water features specifically for dogs are not present, making it important to come prepared for your outing.
Hidden gem and a great event space! Huge covered picnic area with a scenic view of the pond, gazebo and unfiltered nature. Was thinking how nice this would be for a bbq style wedding. Plenty of space for dancing and they even have a bridal suite. We hiked on the boardwalk nature path. Truly peaceful.
This is an amazing conservation area. There is a big pavilion with picnic tables and grill area also. Free parking, very clean restrooms, a playground, a boardwalk and a gazebo locate close to a small lake. You can enjoy the nature and can see many birds. At the end of the boardwalk you will find another picnic area. I came here with my family in winter time at sunset. We really enjoyed this beautiful place!
Just wow!
Osceola County did an amazing job saving this conservation area and turning it into a place for the public to enjoy.
There is a plenty of parking as well as adequate handicap spots.
As you enter the conservation it would benefit you to “Read The Rules” so you’re well aware of your surroundings and what is and isn’t allowed.
Walk out on the beautiful gazebo that takes you onto a fairly large pond, bring your camera, you’ll have an opportunity to enjoy the turtles, alligators, butterflies and an abundance of different bird species.
There is well maintained walking path that takes you around the pond. Take time to look around, there are so many trees and shrubs that are indigenous to the state of Florida.
Bring your fishing pole and catch some bluegill, not for the grill, these fish are catch and release only.
The huge pavilion is suitable for school field trip gatherings, family reunions, child’s party, a work social event or even as a wedding venue.
The restrooms are huge and have plenty of space for changing.
(Remember to not disturb the on property residence unless you have an emergency)
No need to bring a grill, next to the pavilion is a large triple grill, you will however, need to bring your own steaks.
The kids will be entertained for hours on the modern playground as the parents play horseshoes. It would be extra fun if brought along your own Cornhole or croquet set.
There is about a mile long broadwalk that takes you right through the conservation area and leads to a smaller, covered pavilion. You will get a panoramic view of the conservation. I witnessed Sandhill Crane, Roseate Spoonbill, several alligators and even a small water snake.
Bring your kayak or canoe and launch just a few hundred feet from the entrance.
It astounds me that more people are not taking advantage of this free- pristine park.
I love dogs, but you’ll have to leave them home, Dogs are prohibited, for obvious reasons.

What an amazing scenic place to visit. You really get the genuine feeling of being disconnected from the “big” city rigorous. Super clean and quiet. This place is so tucked into nature; off the beaten path, it’s easy to lose track of time and relax. Go for an hour and stay half a day. Great playground. Amazing patio/pavilion. You can even fish the small ponds. Nice! Oh, and you can’t hear the highway because none of them are near, hah!
Gorgeous hidden gem. Has 2 trails one by the pond and a board walk by the house. Also has a playground, restrooms and picnic benches. Looks like a Absolutely beautiful spot to throw a party. If you sit and just listen you can hear birds, frogs, crickets and nature. Perfect place to just walk and relax or have a picnic in the gazebo.
