If you’re searching for a scenic dog park in St. Charles, Illinois, Fox River Bluff West Forest Preserve offers a unique off-leash experience for you and your furry companion. Known for its pet-friendly trails and picturesque settings along the Fox River, this preserve provides both paved and grassy trails where dogs can enjoy running off-leash, making it a favorite spot among local dog owners.
The preserve features a mix of crushed limestone, paved paths, and boardwalks, ideal for dog-friendly hiking and morning walks. While there is no fenced area, dogs have access to grassy spaces as well as the river, which can be especially fun for pups who love to swim or splash around. Ample parking is available, and clean restrooms are on-site for your convenience. Keep in mind to bring your own poop bags, as none are provided.
Bring Poop Bags ! None on site and yet the signs are. Doggie pickup bags are available at other parks. Il State law requires owners to carry bags while walking dogs. If your dog poops once and ypu pick it up, you still to have another bag. I have 3 dogs and carry 6 bags.

We were looking forward to being at this park, but never found the off leash area. Walked all the way to the river, but no signage pointing to any dog area from the paved path. Apparently there is no fenced in area, only a grassy trail.

Awesome Forest Preserve and a great hiking trail. The trail has decent inclines, and crossing the Fox River under the Red Gate Bridge is really cool, with great views. The trail is mostly paved but has a couple of boardwalks and crushed limestone sections. There’s plenty of parking and a clean restoom.

My every morning walk with my dog Smokey. We love it and feel blessed to have this place to walk everyday. Dogs are off leash so if your dog has issues this is NOT the place for you.
