🐾 Kids at the Dog Park: Real Stories, Safety Risks & Smarter Solutions
If you’ve spent time at an off-leash park, you’ve probably seen it:A parent strolls in with a stroller 🚼 or […]
Located at 13498 Strong Blvd in South Rockwood, Dodge Park is a local favorite for those seeking pet-friendly outdoor spaces. While primarily used as a kayak and small boat launch site, this park welcomes dogs and offers some unique riverside scenery, making it a convenient stop for outdoor enthusiasts and their pets. The park provides basic amenities including a gravel boat ramp, a dirt parking lot with space for up to 15 vehicles, and a portable restroom on-site.
Though there are some trails to explore for dog-friendly walks, Dodge Park is not a traditional off-leash or fenced dog park. Visitors should be mindful of muddy conditions after rain or high water, and there is no designated swimming or agility area for dogs. Its secluded, peaceful setting makes it a quiet spot, but dog owners are encouraged to keep their pets on-leash and remain attentive due to limited visibility and occasional safety concerns.
We use Dodge Park to pick up kayaks after a ride down the river. It’s nice to have this location, but not much has been done after putting in the road. It’s already I busy place, so any improvements would probably increase traffic to this location.
I love this place, once a county park way back in the day, now voluntarily supported by the locals. It has a small gravel boat ramp and serves many kayak and canoe liverys in the area. Fishing is usually good for all species but not edible because of PFAS in the river.
Love this little fishing hole but it’s become a hot spot for theft. We had a truck stolen from here Sept 2022. That day, we had been the fourth call in for theft. I think most people have a false sense of security here because it’s off the beaten path, hidden quiet gem. Don’t let your guard down. Not a safe spot.
This park is basically designed to be used as a boat ramp. There is a porta potty available and fishing along the bank. This park is definitely not designed for swimming. It has a pull throw dirt parking lot to accommodate about 15 cars. During high water the park is flooded. This place is NOT accessible friendly ♿
This place is more of a kayak launch than a park. Caught a few fish, which there’s only a couple of good spot to fish here. There’s also a trail but I’m not quite sure where it leads to.
