🐾 Kids at the Dog Park: Real Stories, Safety Risks & Smarter Solutions
If you’ve spent time at an off-leash park, you’ve probably seen it:A parent strolls in with a stroller 🚼 or […]
Nunziato Dog Park is a well-known off-leash dog park located at 7 Putnam St in the heart of Somerville, MA. The park features a fully fenced area with double-gated entry for added security, making it a safe spot for local dog owners to let their pets socialize and play. While the surface is primarily dirt and gravel, and grass is absent, the park offers picnic tables and some shade where owners can relax while their dogs explore.
Known for being accessible to wheelchair users via the entrance, Nunziato Dog Park welcomes dogs of all sizes and is considered kid-friendly. While the park is convenient and has a strong community presence, it can become crowded and muddy after rain, and regulars occasionally note challenges with water quality and some dog owner behavior. Nevertheless, it’s valued by Somerville residents looking for a dog-friendly park where their pets can enjoy active play off-leash close to home.
Great to have an off leash location, wish it wasn’t entirely dirt. Dogs love the holes under the tables
I went here today for the for the first time with my six-year-old rescue dog and my puppy who is about midsize.
Before I even get into the park, some lady is being extremely condescending and rude to other dog walkers in the area, screaming at us, saying shut the gate before you let the other dogs in which I understand, but it was extremely rude There was a lot of dogs here on this particular day, but I’ve never had a problem with my puppy playing with bigger dogs ever in fact he loves bigger dogs
My puppy was attacked by one of the most careless dog owners I’ve ever seen only for her to blame it on pheromones or the fact that he wasn’t fixed . extremely disgusting to appoint the blame on my puppy when her dog was also attacking one other dog that had come into the park . So the lady with tattoos, whose dog attacked my midsize puppy today, don’t bring him to the park anymore . He’s a danger to everyone ! Thanks !
Everyone in this area seems to be extremely snobby / unattended about their dogs half of these people that bring their dogs to the park shouldn’t be dog owners:)
Decent dog park with double gates for safety on two sides. Fairly long space of pebble/gravel. Folks are friendly there.
I absolutely do not recommend going here with your furry family. The people that frequent this park are extremely entitled and condescending towards others. Greeted with a distasteful welcome by the regulars of the park. Leading to my puppy being attacked by another dog, the owner of this dog made excuses as to why the dog would attack my puppy. Saying it was because of pheromones and the fact my puppy wasn’t neutered. This person was very inconsiderate towards the fact their dog attacked my puppy as well as another dog that came into the park after I had entered. The people here have made this park a place to stay away from. Please for anyone reading this go out of your way to find another park, I assure you it will be worth it.
It’s small. Can get crowded but for the most part dogs manage and get along. No grass. Water gets contaminated easily. My dog got a mean bought of diarrhea after coming here. Do better Boston! We love our dogs!
