Joana is the only dog trainer I was able to speak to directly without having to pay first. My dog was having behavior issues and I wasn’t sure if it could be fixed or not. Calling Sit and Stay didn’t take me to an automated message. I was able to directly speak to Joana and get advice on whether it’s even possible to attain the goals I had in mind for my dog. Joana was patient, considerate, and realistic. She didn’t pretend like everything would work out just to get me to make an appointment. And she spoke to me for almost an hour explaining my dogs behavior based on what had happened. She even responded through text at night time. She recommended that I speak to the rescue I got my dog from to make a decision on whether I should continue keeping him or not. Eventually we made the decision to return our dog as he was above my ability as a first time dog owner and he would do better in a home with a yard.
Joana really cares. She cares about dogs and the well being of their families. She didn’t have to spend so much time to help me when the results was cancelling our appointment. But she did because she wasn’t trying to make a profit off of our problems. She genuinely wanted to help. Her methods in training are reasonable and humane and her advice is in consideration of all. I highly recommend Joana to anyone who needs a dog trainer because she knows what she’s doing and keeps it real.

Earlier this year I brought my 3-month-old puppy to Joana’s puppy kindergarten class, and it was an incredible experience from start to finish. Joana provided a welcoming and supportive environment where I felt comfortable asking plenty of questions specific to my pup’s needs. She covered all the basics, from foundational commands to addressing common puppy behaviors, in a way that was easy to understand and apply. Joana also provided helpful resources to reinforce what we learned, which gave me a deeper understanding of how to best support my puppy’s growth and development.
I’ve been able to apply the techniques and advice she shared since the class. I’ve noticed real improvements in my pup’s behavior and responsiveness. Joana’s guidance was both practical and tailored to my puppy. I highly recommend Joana’s training program to anyone looking to establish a solid foundation with their dog—her expertise, patience, and genuine care make her training truly worthwhile.

We reached out to Joana once we got our Bernese Mountain Dog Rudy. Since we missed the class that had just started, we arranged for a private session which was SO informative for us. We then participated in two levels of training classes and needless to say, Rudy was off to being a well-trained pup! We still plan to go back and have him certified to be a Therapy Dog and wouldn’t think of anyone else but Joana to do it with!

Joana is one of the best dog trainers around! She is very patient and generous with her time and she genuinely wants you and your dog succeed! I got my first puppy a year ago and immediately reached out to Joana for puppy kindergarten. She was extremely helpful with teaching me how to integrate the puppy into the home and potty training. I have since taken her basics and advanced classes in hoboken and cannot recommend them enough!

There is no one else I trust more when it comes to my dogs wellbeing than Joana. She has worked with us for our shelter/emaciated/no previous training dog, and our well adjusted puppy. I really owe everything I know about dogs to her. She’s taught me how to advocate for their health, proper socialization as well as space when they need it. (Learning how to speak up when someone is being too friendly or touchy with my dog who clearly doesn’t like it) She’s recommended vets and specialists who have all been AMAZING doctors (with fantastic bedside manner) and supported/helped us navigate some very scary health issues my one dog has had. Plus, she follows her own advice. She’s a true dog lover and a dog owner herself. Her in home trainings are game changers and her classes are really great for bonding with and teaching your dog in a social environment.
