Our dogs Love coming to Spencer Park. With so much space to run and play. There are usually a large number of varied breeds of other dogs there to “mingle” with, Chase and play with. Although I would prefer the city do a better job with maintaining the “lawn”. I would like to see more green and less open dirt. Also, every owner should be cleaning up after their dog.
I take my Siberian Husky there and it is so rewarding to see her run off leash. It is kept clean and most of the dogs are well behaved. If not their owners take them and leave. It’s a wonderful place for my baby girl.
On a recent road trip through Sioux Falls, found this beautiful green park for our pups to run and play after a long day in the car. It was a gorgeous summer afternoon, and the park was busy! Dogs were well behaved, and it was pure joy to see our dogs having such a great time. Very nice families visiting as well. Great sense of community there.
We mainly come to Spencer Park for the fenced dog area. The have a space specifically for small dogs and then they have and all size dog park as well. Both are fenced in and have a dual entry gate to help fur friends from running out when new dogs join. There is a drinking fountain for people and dogs to drink from which I think is very nice. There are also several places to sit while dogs play.
Most folks I’ve met here have fairly well behaved dogs and everyone keeps an eye out just in case their fur baby doesn’t get along with another dog. For the most part, you can tell when it’s play and when it’s it’s not so breaking something up before it starts seems to be easy with so many people keeping an eye out but I’ve never seen a full on fight between dogs here. It never escalates to that point which is good.
It seems like most people clean up after their dogs and use the provided trash areas which is responsible. They also have bags provided in case you forget your own. I haven’t utilized the bike trail yet but my son has run on it and says it’s great scenery very nice park with loads of parking. Lots of mature trees for shade and overall very well maintained. Great family picnic spot.
Spencer Park Soccer Fields are truly a gem for families looking for a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for their children’s soccer practices. The fields are extremely well maintained — neat, clean, and thoughtfully organized — making it a pleasure to visit every time.
Parents can relax knowing their kids are playing in a safe area, while enjoying the beautiful open spaces themselves. The park is also dog-friendly, which adds to its community feel, allowing families to bring along their furry friends without worry.
