You can drive all the way up to a gate and park on the side of the road, there. That will save you elevation, time, and distance on this hike – don’t worry, you’ll get plenty of that later on in the hike 😅. This hike has some great views; I would recommend starting as early as possible because it gets hot quickly. Walking by all of the mining areas on the way up was pretty cool, and seeing the views of the mountains never gets old. The last part of the hike is pretty steep, but you can get there. There is absolutely no shade for the duration of this hike so if you have a dog or children with you, bring a ton of water and start EARLY. We didn’t really see many people at all on this trail, so it’s not heavily trafficked. The whole hike is walking up a jeep road, so it won’t be difficult to walk, it’s just steep. The view at the top is alright. You can continue hiking along the ridge to another Red Mountain (#2 I think) peak, but if you have kids or dogs with you, I absolutely would not recommend doing so.
