Sligo Creek Stream Valley Park offers a gorgeous retreat for dog owners and outdoor enthusiasts in Silver Spring, Maryland. With an extensive network of pet-friendly trails that connect to multiple parks in the area, it’s a popular spot for walking, hiking, biking, and running. The park’s paved and unpaved paths are well maintained, providing options for leisurely strolls, scenic hikes, or more ambitious excursions with your four-legged friend.
This beautiful, peaceful park is known for its easy accessibility, tranquil creek views, and diverse natural scenery. Dog walkers are a regular sight along the trails, and the park’s serene atmosphere makes it perfect for those seeking quiet moments with their pets. While there is no designated off-leash dog area, the park is an excellent choice for leashed dog walks and pet-friendly hiking adventures.
One of the best walking, jogging, running and cycling trails in Montgomery County. It is safe, quite and peaceful.
Sligo Creek Park is absolutely beautiful! It’s a very peaceful walk or run. You’ll find there are probably just as many people riding their bikes as their are people walking and running.
Beautiful trail! I’m so sad that it’s getting cold because I just discovered this one. The trail is very well kept and is safe for bikers, walkers and runners. The parking isn’t as intuitive because on the weekends the main road is closed until about 10 or 11am
2 miles from Silver Spring via a pleasant walk through Woodley Park. It is evident that many homeowner participate in native biodiversity and feeding native pollinators, and once in the creek it is fortunately very easy to traverse and explore, even as a disabled person. However- the people are not friendly. I had a full tonic clonic seizure just off of the trail and several people passed my body before it passed. I had to walk back through the park and ended up collapsing in someone’s driveway in another seizure before EMTs were called. I have Epilepsy, but I have brown skin, so I assume the white people on the trail who lived in the neighborhood, assumed I was ODing- still exceedingly evil to prioritize your steps over another human life. If you are disabled and black, tell people or go with a friend. Do not go alone. This is White Territory.
Went on an easy hike with a friend this afternoon. It’s a nice park because it links up to two other parks actually. So if you finish this trail you can try to explore several others in the adjacent parks. I saw family riding their bikes, dog walkers, runners, and regular walkers like myself. The paved trail does have some unpaved paths as well but I didn’t explore them personally. If you are looking for a peaceful water feature walk please check out this park! I’ve been twice so far and it’s been great.
