Hillandale Local Park in Silver Spring, Maryland is a popular community park offering a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere with plenty of amenities. Known for its well-maintained playground, spacious shaded pavilion, picnic areas, and convenient restrooms, this park is a go-to spot for gatherings, celebrations, and outdoor activities. Visitors enjoy the pet-friendly walking grounds and natural log play features, making it a great choice for local dog owners seeking a stroll or a place to relax with their pups.
While not specifically described as a dedicated dog park, the presence of ample green space, shaded seating, and walking areas makes Hillandale Local Park a great choice for pet owners seeking a dog-friendly park in Silver Spring, MD. The easy access to bathrooms, playgrounds for kids, and picnic shelters means families with both dogs and children can spend the day comfortably. However, visitors should keep in mind that some play surfaces may have rough edges and the park can get busier during weekends or game days, particularly regarding parking availability.
Nice playground. I also love the gazebo with many seats and tables. There are grills here to cook. A small benches for kids and extra ones on the sides. Bathrooms are nearby the gazebo. I love this park for my kids.
Brand new park with sport field, tennis court, playground, natural playground logs, and bathrooms. There are also picnic areas for parties.
I recently visited the newly opened playground and was amazed by the variety of play equipment available for all ages. The shaded pavilion is perfect for hosting parties and events; restrooms located right by the pavilion as well. However, I would like to bring to your attention that the log challenge (see pics below) is a fun and engaging activity for kids, but parents should keep a close eye on their little ones. Some of the logs have sharp edges, and my child missed her step on one of the logs, resulting in several scrapes. It would be great if the county could ensure that the logs are well sanded to avoid any such incidents in the future.
As a theme, another park with not enough parking for game day. But nice areas with coverage from the sun. A nice playground. It felt like a real community place.
I went here for a birthday party with my grandson. I like the park area, and the play items were enjoyed by all of the kids. Aged 7 and below. I also liked that the restrooms were right there under the pavilion.
On the other hand, I was not thrilled with the lack of cleanliness of the pavilion when we arrived. That was kind of a turnoff, actually. But an easy fix for the Parks and Planning folks. Please. Otherwise, nice park.
I should mention that we were on a “first come” basis. So perhaps they clean things up with a reservation and fee. I don’t know.
